Yardarm and Utility, Inc. Introduce Holster Activation for Utility’s BodyWorn™ Camera System

Utility to demonstrate holster activation using the Yardarm Holster Aware™ Sensor at IACP 2017 in Booth 3537.

PHILADELPHIA (PRWEB) OCTOBER 20, 2017

Yardarm Technologies, Inc., and Utility, Inc. announced today the jointly developed solution to allow Yardarm Holster Aware sensors to automatically activate the Utility BodyWorn Camera System upon weapon unholstering. This solution will be demonstrated at the BodyWorn booth (3537) throughout the 2017 IACP Conference and Exposition.

The Yardarm Holster Aware sensor immediately alerts connected devices when an officer’s weapon is unholstered. The sensor interoperates with the Utility BodyWorn Camera System to ensure crucial and decisive data is captured, providing law enforcement agencies with tools that enhance transparency and increase public trust.

“Automatic, policy-based recording is essential for police accountability and transparency. We understand officers are often forced to decide between enforcing policy or protecting themselves or others,” said Ted Davis, president and chief executive officer of Utility. “It’s not realistic or safe to expect police officers in a tense situation to always be able to activate their body camera. Automated recording triggers enforce policy decisions, while removing biases and human error, allowing officers to focus on saving lives, theirs and others.”

Community trust and police transparency are damaged if an officer has a body camera, and no video is recorded. The solution: BodyWorn. BodyWorn provides automatic policy-based recording triggers that can be customized to meet any department’s specific recording and privacy policy decisions. This smart recording device offers a heightened level of situational awareness with real-time communications in the field, officer-down recording and alerts, GPS reporting, immediate wireless video offload and more.

“Working together with Utility and their innovative BodyWorn cameras, we provide critical officer support solutions to law enforcement that are easy to install and immediately go to work. Our integrated solutions are quickly becoming the officer’s third partner. We are there when they need us the most and by using advanced technology, we remain in the background while they work in the foreground,” said Kirsten Kliphouse, chief executive officer of Yardarm.
