OnComm

OnComm™ is a comprehensive mobile communication hub.  With secure WiFi connectivity, the OnComm™ vehicle on-board computer provides highly reliable, broadband Internet connectivity and the latest generation SiRFStar III GPS.  OnComm™ also seamlessly interfaces with a broad range of Mobile Applications such as AVaiL RFID™ and AVaiL Diagnostics™.

OnComm™ provides the following capabilities:

• Broadband Wireless Connectivity.  Connect your laptop or other mobile computing devices to OnComm™ utilizing standard 802.11b WiFi technology within a 600 to 1,000-foot radius of the vehicle and gain broadband Internet access through Sprint/Nextel, Verizon or Cingular broadband EVDO and HSDPA wireless internet access.  Expensive cables and docking stands with complicated damage-prone connectors are no longer required.
  
  
• Wireless Network Agnostic.  Simply insert a Sprint/Nextel, Verizon or Cingular wireless PC card into OnComm™ to access the wireless data network of your choice.
  
  
• Managed Connectivity.  OnComm™ proprietary firmware continuously manages the GPS, WiFi, RFID, broadband and digital wireless services, automatically reconnecting dropped services and maintaining service in rural areas. 
  
  
• Multi-Cast GPS.  OnComm™ is capable of sending the GPS signal to any specified port or virtual port of a WiFi connected PC.  This allows multiple work management applications and other on-board applications to receive a GPS signal at the same time the OnComm™ units is sending the GPS location information to the Command and Control Center. 
  
  
• Stand-Alone PC.  The OnComm is a full Linux computer with VGA, keyboard, and mouse ports.  The OnComm becomes a web brower terminal by connecting a keyboard, mouse and VGA screen.
  
  
• Print Server.  Provides on-board print server functionality.  Plug a printer into one of the four USB ports to provide shared printer access for all computers connected via WiFi.
  
  
• Future Proof.  OnComm™ has the power, flexibility and the I/O ports to deliver expanded functional capability for many years to come.  A full CPU, solid state hard drive and Linux operating system allows capabilities to be added as needed.

OnComm™ seamlessly integrates with Utility Associates Mobile Applications, such as:

• AVaiL RFID™.  Track the location and status of field assets from toolboxes to backhoes, personnel to vehicles. 
  
  
• AVaiL Diagnostics™.  Delivers near real-time vehicle diagnostic information for the vehicle’s ODBII/CAN and J-Bus engine computer interface.
  
  
• AVaiL Navigator™.  Provides an On-Board Navigation capability with vehicle location, turn-by-turn directions, voice prompts, and automatic reroutes when the vehicle departs from the planned route.
