Benefits

AVaiL Cell™

With AVaiL™, your cell-phone becomes a powerful mobile-computing device.  The AVaiL Cell™ application may be downloaded to your cell-phone, in the field, providing:

GPS Tracking.  Use existing GPS Java compatible cell-phones to track the activities of mobile operations workers.  Phones can automatically report GPS position on a scheduled basis in the background without requiring any user intervention.  The GPS tracking function can also be configured where it starts automatically when the phone is turned on, and restarts automatically if the user turns it off.  GPS reporting can be scheduled to operate during business hours and turned off otherwise.  Dispatchers can turn GPS tracking on and off remotely from within AVaiL™ for each individual phone without user notification or action required.

Audit Trails.  Each GPS position report is time and date stamped, so there is a indisputable audit trail of when and where a phone was located.  Full audit trails of when data was sent to a phone, when it arrived on the phone, when the user looked at the message, and when the user responded to the message are sent and stored in AVaiL™.  Icons in AVaiL™ provide a visual status of each message – sent, delivered, opened, response returned.

Positive Delivery. AVaiL™ provides positive delivery – if the phone sends a message and does not get a confirmation a message was received by AVaiL™, the phone continues to send the message until it delivery confirmation is received.  If a phone is out of coverage, all messages and GPS position reports are stored and uploaded when the cell phone comes back into coverage.

Tailored Transaction Applications.  Data collection templates can be tailored to the specific information collection requirements of the field task. An administrator can configure multi-part data collection templates (in a non-coding environment) within AVaiL™.  The templates can include Yes/No questions and Choice Lists to provide “one-click” data entry to the maximum extent possible. Templates can include recording voice notes and pictures.  Any data collected can be tagged with the current GPS position, date, and time. Completed templates can be downloaded immediately to the cell-phone. This provides powerful cell-phone based data reporting capability that may be integrated with existing work management, dispatch, SCADA or other legacy systems. Dispatchers can send a task assignment template to an individual field worker to complete. Work templates can also be stored on the phone and entered as the field worker identifies situations such as down poles that need to be reported to the Dispatcher.

Messaging. Dispatchers can send messages to individual phones, or broadcast messages to groups of phones.

Geo-Located Photographs.  Cell-phones equipped with photographic capabilities maybe used to provide near real-time images of what is happening in the field.  Complex situations may be documented and rapidly distributed to the appropriate personnel with the expertise to address the situation.  These photographs are geo-located, placing the location of where the photo was taken precisely on the AVaiL™ Command and Control center map.  Even if all the road signs, buildings, and other landmarks are destroyed in a hurricane or the roads are covered with sand, and the cell phone user has no idea where they are, AVaiL™ Command and Control shows there location.

Geo-Located Voice-Mail.  Mobile-workers may use the cell-phone to deliver detailed voice descriptions of mobile operational tasks.

AVaiL Cell™ combines GPS tracking, tailored transactional records, photographs, and voice-mail, delivering unparalleled field situational awareness.
